About

A public meeting in January 1884 resolved to form a Fire Brigade in Kyneton.

The new Brigade was permitted to use the bluestone building, formerly the Police Stables, close to the corner of Jennings Street and Ebden Street, Kyneton. Number 7 on the back of shirts worn by the Brigade's competition teams shows that Kyneton was the 7th Brigade to be registered with the Country Fire Brigades Board; the registration date was 20 August 1891.

A new Fire Station was constructed closer to the corner in 1908. The bluestone stables were demolished in 1927 and the stone used to complete the tower at St Paul’s Anglican Church.
