About

Loyola is a Catholic regional secondary College in the Ignatian tradition.

The land on which Loyola College was built was donated to the Archdiocese of Melbourne by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1979 for the purpose of building a catholic secondary school.

The Jesuit Order had a presence on the site from 1934 to 1974 where a house of formation and studies for the Society of Jesus was located (the current Old Loyola building purchased by the College in 2002).

Established in 1980 and set on 27 acres in Watsonia, it serves north-eastern Melbourne and, by special arrangement, accepts students from Catholic schools overseas.

The College has expanded over the years and has added many facilities during that time to enhance quality educational provision for the students.

Certificate of dedication of St Ignatius Chapel and its Altar at Loyola College, Watsonia on the sixteenth day of August 2009. Chapel and Altar Dedicated by Archbishop of Melbourne and Metropolitan, Denis James Hart .
The dedication of St Ignatius Chapel, sixteenth August 2009 after refurbishment of original chapel built in 1933 and officially dedicated at the opening and blessing of Loyola Watsonia, Jesuit Novitiate and House of Studies on 16 December 1934
Framed certificate detailing date of dedication of St Ignatius Chapel and its Altar at Loyola College Watsonia in the Archdiocese of Melbourne by Archbishop Denis James Hart Archbishop of Melbourne and Metropolitan. Recognised by the Minor Basilica and Cathedral of St Patrick, Melbourne.
Certificate including the text "...have this sixteenth day of August/in the Year of Our Lord 2009/dedicated/the Chapel and its Altar at Loyola College, Watsonia..."
